Lego League has been spun into a new company called FloSTEM Academy.

• In Jr Lego league, if we get 10 more kids in ages 6 to 9, we will create two more teams.  
• In First Lego League, if we get 10 more kids in ages 9 to 14 we will create one more team.

IJI Lego League had a very strong start.

• 6 Jr Lego League teams have been created for children of ages 6 to 9 (grades 1 to 3).  Total of about 36-plus kids.
• 3 First Lego League teams have been created for children of ages 9 to 14 (grades 4 and up).  Total of 30 kids.

After the great success of our graphics training course, we are proud to announce our next training course - digital audio editing using free software. Registration form is available here.

This course is aimed at both adults and kids (middleschool and above). It will teach you how to create, rip (from CD), encode (or other audio sources) and manipulate digital audio using free software. The main software used is Audacity (download here). We will also use audio hardware equipment such as microphones, amplifiers, mixers, wireless mics, XLR cables, instrument cables and musical instruments for a hands-on demonstrations.

Course Information

As part of the "Graphics using Free Software" training course, Indo JAX Incubator is organizing a Computer Art Contest at the end of the course. The winner will be awarded at the Indian Cultural Society's India Independence Day celebration event at Lazarra Hall, UNF on August 15, 2010.

• All students of the "Graphics using Free Software" training course are eligible to participate.
• There will be multiple cash awards in two categories - people's choice and critic's choice. People's Choice will be decided by popular vote. Critic's Choice will be selected by ICS Executive Committee.  Prize amounts are $40, $30 and $20 for first, second and third prizes.
• Any number of entries are permitted per participant (but we'd like to keep the total number of entries to a manageable number).
• Last date for submitting entries is August 14th, 2010.
• You can start creating your art right away, post on picassa and share with instructor (vp@indojaxincubator.org).   On the last training session on August 14th, you will submit the final versions, we'll copy them from your computer on to a flash drive.  You may also upload your art by going to http://ftp.indojaxincubator.org, username=training, password=training, then upload your art files.  Please name the files that start with your name; example: myname_1.jpg, myname_2.jpg, etc.
• We will have a booth at ICS to present the computer art.  In the booth a computer will display the art in a slideshow mode, and we will also have a poster board to display printed art.  We recommend that each student print their best art submission on a 8.5x11 photo quality paper. We request that each student be present during the poster session at the booth to explain their art to visitors and judges.  It will be easier to judge printed art versus art in a slideshow on a computer.  The timings of the booths is 3pm onwards on 8/15.  Winners will be announced during the cultural program from 5:30 to 7:30pm, and prizes will be distributed on the stage.

Indo Jax Incubator of Jacksonville, Florida is proud to present Robotics education and hands-on learning for Kids through the Junior and First lego league prorgram of FIRST (For the Inspiration of Science Technology) Organization.

Bakul Patel, president of GSNEF previewed the newly redesigned website by Indo Jax Incubator, Inc (IJI). He compared the new design developed by IJI to other Gujarati association websites and proclaimed that the new website is the best. It features a very dynamic and colorful look and feel. In addition, it supports registration of new users, purchasing of event tickets by members and emailing of newsletters to all registered users. News feeds from Gujarati publications is available in Gujarati. Overall it is a significant upgrade to the capabilities of the GSNEF website.
